Koshka is known for solid and colour-point
breeding. To ensure the
integrity of colour across all generations we have deliberately
not introduced the white or "O" red gene. Simply because, it
is far more difficult to
predict colour and pattern when a wider range of genetic variables are
introduced. We therefore, do not have any of the beautiful bi-colour, red,
cream or tortoiseshell cats into the lineage.
The
Himalayan (colour-point) gene was introduced by the very early
breeders in the early 1960's when hybrid breeding with Siamese was an
accepted part of the breeding programme. Colour-point Cornish
Rex are still fairly rare, but, very popular and highly sought after
as pets in Australia. They are also a personal favourite. |
